Super 8 teaser trailer review

Producer - Steven Spielberg
Director - J.j Abrams
release date - Summer

The Super 8 teaser trailer does not give to much away. This keeps the audience waiting to find what happens. During the trailer they tell you the producer, director, name of the film and the release date. They tell you the basic details of whats happening for example, the location, the genre and the outline of the film.

The trailer is dark which makes it mysterious for the audience. It jumps between the plot of the film and the information e.g. producer and director. They keep the creature hidden so that it doesn't give anything away.
The editing is fast past which keeps the audience attracted and wanting more.

The trailer is about 1.30 long which is quite long as most teaser trailers are about 1 minute. With the trailer being slightly longer than most it gives the audience an opportunity to find out what the film is exactly about, who is starring in it and when it is being released. The trailer seems to be just one scene which is unusual as a large majority of trailers show lots of different scenes so that the audience get an idea of what happens. In this it looks like they only show one scene.

The trailer does not include any background music which is common in horror films as they try to spook the audience out. The have amplified sounds of the train warning lights, car skidding, train crash and when the thing tries to get out of the carriage. They have decided to do this because it makes the clip more emphatic and it looks like a bigger catastrophe.

They decide not to tell the audience who is starring in it as then the audience will have to research and then they will find other parts of information that relates to the film. This helps them to promote the film and it gets the audience involved.
